Green Creek
Settlers in the area first made Green Creek their home. This rural community hasn’t changed much over the years. It is home to rolling farmland and beautiful long-range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The area was founded on agriculture – growing everything from cotton, corn, wheat and oats – and raising dairy and beef cattle. Today, the area is taking on a new form of agriculture – vineyards and wineries. The area is host to 13 vineyards and 2 wineries, numbers that continue to grow as this county area re-establishes a trade that thrived in Tryon until prohibition caused those vineyards to dwindle and close.
The township does not have a post office and relies on rural delivery from neighboring towns, so mailing addresses will list Columbus, Tryon, or Rutherfordton. This can make things mighty confusing to find, so check out our interactive map or give us a call to find out where things really are.
